Today, we sit down with Walter, a valuable member of the Pegasus team, to delve into his experiences, interests, and the unique perspectives he brings to the world of IT. In this engaging conversation between Walter and our interviewer, Matt, you’ll get a glimpse into the professional journey, personal quirks, and even some fun anecdotes that make Walter a standout member of the Pegasus family.
Matt: Hello everyone and thanks again for joining us here at another episode of Pegasus Technologies meet the employee with the CEO. Today we have Walter with us. Hi Walter, how are you?
Walter: Good, how are you?
Matt: Excellent, thank you. Well, thanks for joining us and being a sport here. So we’re going to get into some questions, and like everyone else, you can’t blame me because I didn’t write them all, and your peers did. So we’ll have some fun with it. First off, why don’t you go ahead and talk tell us a little bit about yourself?
Walter: So I’ve been here about six, seven months, was hired back in April. I’ve been in the IT field for a good seven, eight years. Currently, I am in school going for my bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity. So with everything here at Pegasus, it kind of works into what I’m going to school for. Everything that I’ve done in the past compared to what Pegasus offers is there’s a lot more range on what we can do, what opportunities I have, as well as so much more work like working and everything. I can do a lot more with servers than what we were able to do because previous jobs we had specific, like we had our own systems admin team, we had our own networking team. So anybody essentially that we couldn’t touch, it was just there. So now with coming into this environment, I can definitely show my potential and kind of show what I’ve learned over the years of being in school, working in IT, and everything.
Matt: Alright, excellent. Good. And are you from the area originally?
Walter: I am. I’m from Westchester. Perfect. Alright, good. So let’s get into the meat of this and the reason why everybody tunes in. So the first question up for grabs here is, have you ever met anyone famous?
Matt: Famous in terms of actors?
Walter: No, hockey players. Yes. That’s good. Name a few. Just name three hockey players that you’ve had an opportunity to meet.
Matt: I’ve personally known Riley Kot, who used to be a Philadelphia Flyer and a Phantom. I’ve pretty much met back in 05-06. I’ve met the whole entire Phantoms team. I personally know Steve Coates from the Flyers as well as Danny Briere.
Walter: Cool. Excellent. Yeah, I’ve played hockey with a few of them myself. So good. What’s your go-to dance move when no one’s watching?
Matt: I do not have one. Come on now. Nothing. Nothing. Alright, let’s make one up right now. Let’s do it. Is it like the lawnmower?
Walter: Alright. Well, we tried. I honestly have no clue because I’m not much of a dancer, honestly.
Matt: That’s good. Alright. So moving on, what’s the weirdest or funniest food combination you enjoy eating?
Walter: Fried chicken and calamari combined. Hi, get it. That works.
Matt: Alright. What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done in your life?
Walter: Adventurous would be taking a cross-country trip to California.
Matt: Do you drive then?
Walter: Yeah, yes.
Matt: Cool. That sounds good. How long did it take you?
Walter: About three days to get there.
Matt: Oh, that’s a shotgun approach. Alright. Do you have any weird superstitions?
Walter: I do not. As a hockey player, like, you don’t wear the same socks or had any superstition never really… I mean, never really crossed my mind or anything. So I never really had any sort of need to think about it. Alright, good. I have one. I cannot wear socks in my skates. All right. If you could talk to one species of animal, which would you choose?
Matt: Dog, right?
Walter: I do not, but I love the breeds that I like for dogs are wolves and huskies. So I would love to be able to talk with them.
Matt: Alright, good. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose? That’s a tough one.
Walter: Tacos.
Matt: That’s good. Like you can have a lot of variety in tacos. If you had a time machine, what time period would you travel to?
Walter: Go back to 2010.
Matt: 2010. What happened in 2010?
Walter: Flyers almost won the cup.
Matt: Okay, so then you try to figure out a way to change that, I’m sure. Alright. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Walter: Firefighter.
Matt: Not a hockey player. Come on now. Alright, cool. Hey, while we’re talking hockey, I just want to say that I want to thank you and show everybody this is what you brought me the other day from one of your games. As you don’t know, Walter here is a referee for hockey, and I’m an avid hockey player. So he brought me this. I want to thank you and share that. So last question here is, what’s one song or artist that you’re embarrassed to admit you like? Are you a Swifty?
Walter: No, probably Backstreet Boys.
Matt: That’s a good one too. That’s a way back one. So, alright, well, Walter, thanks for being a great sport, and glad to have you on the team. Look forward to the years to come to have you here and sharing a little bit about yourself with everybody else. Have a great day.
