Tech Tip: Phishing Targets You at Home, Too

Holiday Scams are in Full Force

This time of year, when we feel there’s not enough time, cybercriminals are taking full advantage. Particularly when we’re talking with people we don’t regularly interact with, we’re waiting for packages to be delivered, and we’re looking for sales, coupons, and rebates, all while feeling distracted and overwhelmed around the holiday season, criminals have an easier job than usual.

Even if your work email and computer systems feel safe, don’t let your guard down. Be suspicious and remember the importance of taking the time to stop and think anytime something doesn’t seem right.

Criminals are now targeting your mobile phone with calls and text messages that can look and sound very legitimate. Caller ID can easily be spoofed. Don’t click on links you’re not expecting. Instead, delete the message and manually call the person or browse to the website of the person/organization trying to reach you.
