Transcript of the Interview with Dan Hack

Matt: Hello, everyone, and welcome to yet again another episode of our “Meet the Employee.” Today, we have Dan with us. Dan, how are you doing today?

Dan: Doing great.

Matt: Awesome, great. So, Dan, you’ve been with us now coming up on three months, right?

Dan: Yep, pretty much, almost there.

Matt: Good. Things going well so far for you?

Dan: Very well, very well indeed.

Matt: Awesome. Yeah, we’re enjoying having you here, so thanks for joining the team. Why don’t you just take a couple of seconds to introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?

Dan: So, my name is Dan Hack. I’m in with that last name. I’ve been in IT for about three years now. I’m continually just trying to learn new things, and yeah, I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far. Like everything, I felt like I came into the team and molded in very well, very quickly.

Matt: Awesome, great. Well, thank you for that. So now we get to the part where everybody’s tuning in for, which are the questions. For those of you that don’t know, there are 10 questions that have been submitted by Dan’s peers, so I am not responsible for anything that is asked here. You can go get mad at other people if it makes you uncomfortable. I think we got a pretty good group of questions here. They’re not too bad, so let’s dig right on in.

Matt: How long do you think you’d survive in a zombie apocalypse?

Dan: Huh, it would have to depend on the type of zombie. Are we like a “Walking Dead” zombie or are we talking a “Zombieland” zombie?

Matt: Walking Dead.

Dan: Probably a little bit. Zombieland zombie? No, not very long at all.

Matt: Yeah, the slow-moving ones are a little bit easier than some of the ones that are superhuman, so I get it. That’s a good answer.

Matt: Number two, if you were a dog, which breed would you be?

Dan: I don’t know, probably somewhere around like a German Shepherd or a French Bulldog. I have this laugh a lot, which, you know, Frenchies are wild.

Matt: Yeah, I love it. Either one of those two. One’s a very prestigious, very well-mannered, and the other one’s just a crazy ball of fur, so that’s good.

Matt: If life is a video game, what cheat code would you want to use the most?

Dan: Infinite wealth.

Matt: Infinite wealth? Not like regeneration or anything like respawn?

Dan: Ah, that’s a good one.

Matt: All right, good.

Matt: Number four, what is the most useless skill you possess?

Dan: I can remember random things. Like, you know, how they have those books where it’s like 105 random facts. I can remember just useless things like that sometimes.

Matt: So you’re just a useless thesis or whatever, or an encyclopedia, right?

Dan: Yep.

Matt: All right, cool.

Matt: What do you want to be remembered for? I guess we’re already taking care of you this early. So yeah, what do you want to be remembered for, Dan?

Dan: Just like in general or specifically here?

Matt: I’m saying that when your time is done on this planet.

Dan: When my time is done on this planet, I just want to be remembered for like, I want people to say like, “That guy, that was a good guy right there.”

Matt: All right, good. So just an all-around good guy, great.

Matt: As a child, what was your favorite game to play?

Dan: As a child, my favorite game to play… Oh man, my parents are going to kill me on this one. Mortal Kombat.

Matt: Yeah, that’s—now I have a question though. So, without revealing your age, was the Mortal Kombat you were playing on a console at home or was it the true stand-up arcade?

Dan: It was one of those, like, I don’t even know if they make them anymore, but it had this little joystick and you could plug it into your TV with the yellow, white, and red adapters. It was the original Mortal Kombat on that.

Matt: Got it. So when I learned to play Mortal Kombat, you’d show up with like four rolls of quarters, and there’d be like 50 people surrounding the machine. You would just get in line and wait to go up there and just get smoked by somebody that definitely dumped hundreds of dollars into learning how to play the game. Because there was no internet, so the cheat codes were only by word of mouth. So the combos, you just had to learn them. There was no manual. Quite different. So, good stuff. That was a great game, actually.

Matt: How would you describe spiciness to someone who has never tasted anything spicy in their life?

Dan: So, I’ve never tasted anything spicy. Explain to me what spicy tastes like. Spicy is going to be something where if it gets on your lips, your lips are going to start burning. Be careful, don’t rub your eyes. Like, say if you’re eating a wing and it’s a spicy wing, don’t rub your eyes afterwards. For me personally, if I have anything over mild, I’ll start to sweat.

Matt: Got it, got it. So that’s heat. Good. All right.

Matt: If you could change the color of your eyes to anything that doesn’t look natural at all, which color would you choose?

Dan: Random. I would say something maybe like a light green, something along those lines.

Matt: Like a light green, but not like a natural light green?

Dan: No, like something that, you know, it’ll be like, “Whoa, look at those eyes.”

Matt: Yeah, cool. Cool. All right, two left.

Matt: What is your favorite sport?

Dan: Depends. Football or baseball, one of them. Throw them up in the air, catch one. There you go.

Matt: Pick one or the other, and say if you could change one thing about that sport, what would you change?

Dan: So I’ll take baseball, and the one thing I will change about that—I don’t know if I necessarily like the pitch clock thing. I don’t know if I’m for that because I mean, I grew up and that was never a thing. You know, I’m a fan of baseball games. I like if they take seven hours long, so, you know, that’s all for me.

Matt: Yeah, I think the advertisers don’t like that though. So, all right.

Matt: Last question, this is the doozy one. What’s the weirdest face you can make? And do it now.

Dan: I don’t know, it’s like one of the Arnold Schwarzenegger ones.

Matt: All right, let’s go. We got to see it.

Dan: (Makes a face)

Matt: That’s the best. I love it. I love it.
