At Pegasus Technologies, building strong relationships and staying active in our local community is just as important as keeping networks secure and operations running smoothly. That’s why five members of Team Pegasus recently geared up and took to the streets to compete in this year’s annual Tour-de-Trike, hosted by the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce.
Riding adult-sized tricycles through the heart of Downtown West Chester, our team went head-to-head with fellow local business leaders. We didn’t win the championship trophy this time around, but we had an absolute blast bringing the team spirit to Gay Street!
What Is the Tour-de-Trike?
Re-imagined from the classic Tolsdorf Trike Challenge, the Tour-de-Trike transforms Gay Street—between Church and Darlington Streets—into a full-fledged relay course. Coinciding with the summer Gay Street Open-Air Market, the bracket-style tournament puts local teams of five to the test on provided adult-sized tricycles.
Competing in the Tour-de-Trike requires a mix of speed, strategy, and strict adherence to some hilarious rules:
-
Stay Seated: Racers must remain straddling the trike with two feet and all three wheels on the ground at all times—no standing up or pushing off at the start line!
-
The “Zone” Exchange: Smooth handoffs are critical. Riders must exchange the trike within designated transition zones before the next team member can take off down the course.
-
Second Chance Bracket: Early elimination doesn’t mean a team is out for good. A second-chance bracket gives eliminated teams a shot at redemption and a path back into tournament contention.
-
Team Spirit & Costumes: While helmets aren’t mandatory, creative team outfits and decorated gear are heavily encouraged, with judges awarding prizes for “Best Dressed” alongside the racing champions.
Supporting Local Business & Community Connections
Beyond the laughs and fast-paced pedal action, the Tour-de-Trike serves a vital purpose: supporting the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and its ongoing efforts to drive local commerce, workforce development, and community engagement.
Presented alongside Title Sponsor Tolsdorf Oil Lube Express, the event highlights the vibrancy and camaraderie that make the West Chester business district such a great place to live and work.
Teamwork On and Off the Course
Whether we’re navigating tricycle transition zones on Gay Street or managing complex cloud environments behind the scenes, seamless teamwork is at the core of everything we do at Pegasus.
